C. S. Lewis and creation

For most of his life the author, C. S. Lewis, was a theistic evolutionist. Few people realize that later in life he became a staunch creationist. In 1951, he wrote a private letter to Captain Bernard Acworth, RN, in which he made the following statement:

"I wish I were younger. What inclines me now to think you may be right in regarding evolution as the central and radical lie in the whole web of falsehood that now governs our lives, is not so much your arguments against it, as the fanatical and twisted attitudes of its defenders."

If C. S. Lewis could make such a statement in 1951, how much more may we in 1997, say the same thing. Evolution and the thought processes which derive from it have become the dominate governing factors in our lives today.

We have high government officials who have committed crimes, but are not being charged because there is no longer a standard by which to measure right and wrong. The response as to why they are not being charged is, "Who cares?" In the Book of Judges Chapters 17 and 21, we find passages which say that when the people did not have anyone to rule over them, each person did what was right in their own opinion.

Where there is no God, all things are permissible. When there is no standard, who cares. Why should we struggle when there are no rules, no roles and no purpose?

The Church Universal has been warned by God of the result of lackadaisical thinking. God says that we will have the government that we deserve! What that means is that if we want righteous government we must be the salt which works for and achieves righteous government, God will not hand it to us on a silver platter.

The foundation of righteous government is a belief in creation. The one thing which you must have in order to have Law is a Lawgiver. If there is no Lawgiver, there is no Law. What we need then is to return as a country to a belief in the truth of creation and the moral issues we face will be corrected by the government we then deserve!
